NovaGlimpse Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 28, 2026
Product: NovaGlimpse, a Chrome extension for Gmail, made by Novawave LLC ("Novawave", "we", "us")
Contact: [email protected] · https://novawave.llc/novaglimpse

1. The short version

  • NovaGlimpse tells you when an email you sent from Gmail is opened.
  • Your email details stay in your browser. Subjects, recipient addresses, send times and open history are kept in Chrome's local storage on your computer. They are never uploaded to us.
  • The only thing our server receives is a random tracking code and the time it was loaded. It contains no email address, name, subject or message content.
  • NovaGlimpse does not sign in to your Google account and does not use the Gmail API.
  • There are no accounts, no analytics in the Extension, and no ads. We never sell data and never use it to train AI models.

2. How NovaGlimpse works

When you click Send in Gmail, NovaGlimpse adds an invisible one-pixel image to the message. The image's address contains a random code (for example t_mh1abc_x9y8) that is created on your computer and is not derived from you, your account or the recipient. When the recipient's mail client loads the image, our server records that the code was loaded, and the time. The Extension checks our server about once a minute for the codes it created, and shows the result in its popup.

3. Information stored on your computer

To show you the list of tracked emails, NovaGlimpse keeps in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local):

  • the subject and recipient addresses of each tracked email, read from the Gmail compose window when you send
  • the time you sent it, and the random tracking code
  • whether and when it was opened, and how many times
  • your theme choice

This data stays in the browser profile where the Extension is installed. It is not synced through your Google account, not uploaded to Novawave, and it is deleted when you remove the Extension. You can also remove opened emails from the list at any time with Clear read.

4. Information our server receives

Our server (hosted on Supabase, see section 7) stores:

  • Pixel loads: the random tracking code and the time each load happened. This is what makes "Opened" work.
  • Your own views: when you open one of your tracked emails in Gmail with the Extension installed, the Extension tells the server the code and the time so that view can be discounted. Only codes created in your browser are reported.

The server does not store email addresses, names, subjects, message content, IP addresses, browser or device details, or anything that links a code to a Google account. We deliberately removed IP address and user-agent columns from the service so that a recipient's open cannot be traced to their device.

Like any web service, the hosting provider may keep short-lived technical request logs (which can include IP addresses) for security and operations. We do not use those logs to identify anyone.

5. Your recipients

A recipient who opens your email loads the pixel from our server, the same way their mail client loads any remote image. We receive the code and the time. We do not know who they are, and we do not record their address or device. Many mail clients block remote images or load them through a proxy, in which case we receive less or nothing. You are responsible for using NovaGlimpse in a way that is lawful where you and your recipients are.

6. Access to Gmail and Google user data

NovaGlimpse runs only on mail.google.com. It reads the compose window to insert the pixel and to note the subject and recipients for your own list, and it looks at images in messages you view to recognize its own pixels. It does not read other mail, does not request Google sign-in or OAuth permissions, and does not use the Gmail API. No Google user data is sent to Novawave.

NovaGlimpse's handling of data follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements: data is used only to provide the open-tracking feature you see, is not sold, is not used for advertising, and is not used to train AI or machine-learning models.

7. Our website and service providers

  • Tracking service: the server that records pixel loads runs on Supabase, which processes requests to deliver the service.
  • Hosting: our website, https://novawave.llc, is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard technical data such as IP address and browser type to deliver the pages.
  • Analytics: the website uses Google Analytics to understand visits. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or your browser's privacy settings. Google Analytics is used on the website only. It is not built into the Extension.
  • Email: our business email runs on Google Workspace, so support emails you send us are stored there.

8. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share information only:

  • with the service providers named in section 7, to run the service, website and support email
  • if required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of users or Novawave

9. Data retention and deletion

  • On your computer: remove the Extension from Chrome and its local data is deleted. Clear read removes opened emails from the list sooner.
  • On the server: pixel records contain only a random code and times, and we cannot link them to you or your recipients. If you want the records for specific codes deleted, email us the codes from your list and we will delete them.
  • Support emails: kept for up to 24 months, then deleted. Ask us to delete them sooner at [email protected].

10. Security

  • Connections between the Extension, Gmail and our server use encrypted HTTPS.
  • The server's database is not readable from the internet; only the service that records and reports pixel loads can access it.
  • Tracking codes are random and unguessable, so one user cannot look up another's opens.
  • Your list on your computer is only as safe as your computer and browser profile.

11. Children

NovaGlimpse is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU and UK). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR in the EU/UK or CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, or object to how it is used. Because your email details are stored only in your own browser, you control them directly. For anything we hold (such as support emails or server records for specific codes), contact [email protected].

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for important changes, tell you in the Extension or on this page before they take effect.
